Elizabeth Murphy

elizabeth-murphyElizabeth Murphy is a highly effective and resourceful business and transactions lawyer with experience in a broad range of legal and business affairs. Elizabeth specializes in commercial law, sports law, real estate law, and business law. Her experience includes serving as the lead lawyer on negotiations and transactions for high revenue sports matters, leasing, purchase and sale, and land use transactions, broadcasting deals, credit financings on behalf of both lenders and borrowers, and matters addressing corporate formation.

Elizabeth’s extensive experience comes from her role as the Deputy General Counsel for the San Francisco Giants for 16 years and her prior experience as senior counsel in the real estate group of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman.

Elizabeth frequently serves as an invited speaker and panelist for educational institutions and continuing legal education providers. She was a member of San Francisco’s Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class of 2004. She currently volunteers her time with the Oakland-Piedmont Chapter of the National Charity League and Bishop O’Dowd High School.

Representative Matters

  • Directly contributed to industry-leading growth in Giants’ revenues and enterprise value by leading transactions and negotiating, analyzing and preparing agreements for all functions, including all sales, sponsorship, talent, entertainment, advertising, hospitality, marketing and promotions, retail, and concessions.
  • Oversaw all legal matters related to the Giants’ real estate transactions and leasing matters.
  • Responsible for intellectual property matters, software and vendor licensing agreements, e-commerce deals, and retail licensing agreements.
  • Served as sole legal advisor to hospitality provider and advised on minimum of 75 event hosting transactions annually, including large scale concerts, sporting events and other entertainment events.
  • Led negotiations on behalf of commercial real estate transactions including complex financings, mortgage financings, leasing matters, acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Served as a principal attorney in the development, construction and financing of AT&T Park, and in a major California winery and vineyard acquisition, which involved multiple properties and land owners.
  • Handled leases for commercial office space, as well as permitting and entitlement issues for large and small developers, lenders, and landowners.
